//Browser Use Raises $17 Million to Pioneer Seamless Website Navigation for AI Agents//

Browser Use, the tool making it easier for AI ‘agents’ to navigate websites, raises $17M/

In the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence, the concept of AI "agents" — autonomous tools that can perform tasks on behalf of humans — is gaining increasing traction. While the industry has yet to settle on a definitive description of what constitutes an AI agent, innovation is moving ahead at lightning speed. Among the leaders of this technological revolution is Browser Use, a startup dedicated to making websites more readable and navigable for AI agents. The company recently announced it has secured a substantial $17 million seed funding round, led by Felicis’ Astasia Myers with participation from high-profile investors including Paul Graham, A Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners.

This funding milestone, which had not been previously reported, positions Browser Use as a critical player in developing the underlying infrastructure that will enable AI agents to interact seamlessly with the web. The company is part of Y Combinator’s 2025 winter batch, a noteworthy accomplishment that underscores its credibility and innovative edge. Browser Use gained significant attention after Chinese startup Butterfly Effect leveraged its technology in the viral Manus tool, demonstrating the platform’s scalability and real-world application.

The startup was founded last year by Magnus Müller and Gregor Zunic, two data science master’s students who met at ETH Zurich’s Student Project House accelerator. Müller brought years of experience in web scraping to the table, and together with Zunic, he conceived the idea of merging data science and web scraping to prompt browsers to perform complex tasks autonomously. In just five weeks, they created a demo of Browser Use, which quickly gained traction. Recognizing the potential of their creation, they open-sourced the project, encouraging collaboration and rapid adoption.

At its core, Browser Use transforms the chaotic, visually complex structure of websites into simplified, text-like formats that AI agents can easily interpret. According to Müller, this innovation addresses a critical flaw in most current agentic systems, which often rely on vision-based systems to navigate websites via screenshots. These methods are prone to failure due to frequent website updates and variations in design. “A lot of agents rely on vision-based systems and try and navigate websites through screenshots, and in [the] process, things break,” Müller explained. “We convert [websites] into something agents can understand. This approach means we can run the same tasks again and again at a cheaper cost.”

This simplification process not only improves reliability but also reduces the operational costs associated with running AI agents repeatedly across different platforms. As more businesses look to integrate AI agents into their workflows, Browser Use has positioned itself as an indispensable tool. In fact, more than 20 companies from the current Y Combinator Winter batch are reportedly using Browser Use to enhance their own agentic applications.

The demand for AI agents that can navigate websites efficiently is growing rapidly, with businesses seeking to automate tasks ranging from customer support to complex data retrieval. Müller notes that companies are proactively reaching out to Browser Use, asking how they can optimize their websites for agentic interaction. This proactive approach signals a growing recognition among businesses that the future of digital interaction will be heavily agent-driven. “There are companies coming to us and saying, ‘What can we do to make it easier for agents to navigate our website?’”

he said. “There are sites — for example, LinkedIn — that change the way the website works all the time, so agents often fail on sites like those.”

Felicis partner Astasia Myers highlighted why Browser Use was such an appealing investment. The firm's open-source-first approach and the technical expertise of its founding team made it a standout candidate. “We think web AI agents are the next frontier that really helps with the end-to-end automation of human tasks,” Myers shared. “[W]eb AI agents are this dynamic bridge between static pre-trained models that are mostly text-focused in the ever-changing digital landscape.”

Myers also pointed out that Browser Use has the potential to become a foundational technology layer, enabling seamless interaction between AI models and the dynamic environments of modern websites. With businesses and consumers increasingly relying on digital platforms for everyday tasks, the need for reliable, adaptable AI agents has never been more urgent. Browser Use’s technology aims to fill that gap by offering a robust, scalable solution that can adapt to the ever-changing online landscape.

Additionally, the broader AI community is taking note of Browser Use’s contributions. Industry observers have praised the company for its open-source strategy, which fosters innovation and allows developers worldwide to build on its platform. This collaborative approach has helped Browser Use establish itself as a thought leader in the emerging AI agent space.

Looking ahead, the company plans to use its newly raised funds to scale its operations, enhance its product features, and invest in research and development. This includes further refining its ability to interpret increasingly complex web structures and ensuring that its technology remains ahead of the curve. Browser Use also intends to expand its team, bringing in top talent to accelerate its mission of making the web more accessible for AI agents.

Moreover, the company's roadmap includes partnerships with major technology firms and enterprises looking to integrate agentic solutions into their digital ecosystems. These collaborations are expected to not only drive Browser Use’s growth but also accelerate the adoption of AI agents across industries.

In summary, Browser Use’s $17 million seed funding round is more than just a financial milestone; it represents a significant step toward a future where AI agents can seamlessly interact with the web. By transforming websites into agent-readable formats, Browser Use is laying the groundwork for a new era of digital automation. As the company continues to innovate and expand, it is poised to become a cornerstone technology in the AI landscape, enabling businesses and consumers alike to harness the full potential of intelligent, autonomous agents.

Skyrocketing Energy Prices and Inflation Woes Mount as the “Absurd” Reality in Iran Sinks In The escalating conflict involving Iran is rapidly transforming from a regional military crisis into a global economic shock . As oil prices surge, supply chains tighten, and inflation pressures rise worldwide, analysts warn that the situation has entered what many describe as an “absurd” phase—where geopolitical confrontation and economic realities collide in ways that few policymakers anticipated. Energy markets, which are often the first to react to geopolitical tension, have been shaken by disruptions linked to the war and by fears that key oil transit routes could become unstable. Oil prices have climbed sharply, with some forecasts suggesting that prolonged conflict could drive crude prices far beyond $100 per barrel and possibly even higher. At the same time, the economic pressure inside Iran itself is intensifying. Inflation, currency depreciation , and sanctions have already wea...

Iran War Causes the Largest Oil Supply Disruption in History: Global Energy Markets Face Unprecedented Shock

Iran War Causes the Largest Oil Supply Disruption in History: Global Energy Markets Face Unprecedented Shock The Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway responsible for carrying roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, has seen oil and product flows plunge from around 20 million barrels a day to "a trickle,” the International Energy Agency wrote.  The ongoing conflict involving Iran has triggered what energy analysts describe as the largest oil supply disruption in modern history , shaking global energy markets, driving oil prices higher, and raising fears of a prolonged economic shock. A new report from the International Energy Agency warns that the war and related attacks on shipping lanes and energy infrastructure have disrupted millions of barrels of oil production and transport each day. The disruption has been intensified by instability around the critical Strait of Hormuz , through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil normally passes. As shipping slowed dramatic...
